Despicable Me 4 (2024) is the fourth main film in Illumination’s blockbuster franchise and the sixth overall Despicable Me/Minions movie. Gru is now a full-time Anti-Villain League agent, a father to three girls and a new baby boy, and somehow still surrounded by chaotic Minions and ridiculous villains.
Directed by Chris Renaud, with a script by Mike White and Ken Daurio, the movie brings back Steve Carell as Gru, Kristen Wiig as Lucy, Pierre Coffin as the Minions and introduces new characters voiced by Will Ferrell, Joey King, Sofía Vergara and Stephen Colbert. Despicable Me 4 (2024) Story & Plot Summary
Former supervillain and AVL agent Gru attends a class reunion at his old villain school Lycée Pas Bon, where he runs into his bitter rival Maxime Le Mal. Maxime, now mutated with cockroach abilities, wants revenge for a talent show humiliation from their school days. Gru manages to have Maxime arrested by the Anti-Villain League, but the victory doesn’t last long.
Maxime escapes from prison with the help of his glamorous girlfriend Valentina and vows to target Gru’s family, especially his baby son Gru Jr. Using a dangerous new device that can turn people into cockroach-human hybrids, Maxime sets his sights on Gru’s home. The AVL steps in and forces Gru, Lucy, Margo, Edith, Agnes and Gru Jr. into a witness-protection-style safe house in a quiet suburb under fake identities.
